I prefer the sedcond mock up overall I think. I believe that the mise en scene is good and the layout makes the article easy to read and I think that the smaller picture also breaks up the writing and improves the aesthetic. I think that you could possibly pick out a colour from the photo and use it on the writing as part of a three colour palette. I also like the way the text is overlapping the text in the first mock up although where the writing covers the artists face, it is a little harder to read so maybe arrange the article around the image? :)
I really like the first two double page spreads but I find that the third one is a bit lacking, you need something else happening in it because its a bit boring.
