Target Audience

After taking deep thought to the matter to what my target audience might be i have finally reached a conclusion. I have based my magazine on that of the RollingStone magazine and like the way they layout and use different ideas in their front covers. RollingStone are a rock and roll magazine and i soon realised that this genre would is a very versatile genre, there is no specific age range for rock and roll, therefore i struggled to find an audience.
My genre is more of a rock/alternative genre this includes bands such as Kasabian, Kings of Leon and The Black Keys. This sub-genre spanding off the rock and roll core is mainly enjoyed by a younger audience, this helped me decide. My target audience is going to be mainly teenagers but i have to make it open so that any older generation for example late 20's early 30's can pick it up and still hold an interest. To do this i will use a text that is both scruffy and formal at the same time, i will also use a selection of pictures throughout my magazine that will appeal to any age range.
I will be taking inspiration from other magazines such as Esquire, Dazed and Confused and Q. These inlufences will help my magazine appeal loosen the restriction of a solid target audience.

  1. Look at artists Like Buck 65 (he's hip hop so ignore the singing and focus on the samples), Langhorne Slim (more folksy), Ryan Adams (specifically To Be Young Is To Be Sad).
